New Google My Business Features For Pre-launch Businesses and Service Area Businesses
If you’re planning a business launch in the near future, changes to the Google My Business site mean you can now announce your opening date in advance. This is a great way to promote your launch and attract potential customers even before you’ve started trading.
Adding the opening dates for your new business
Following successful testing in September, Google My Business is rolling out its business listing feature for new businesses. The feature is fantastic for local SEO as it shows business listings within Google Maps even before they’ve opened. It also gives consumers the date the business will begin trading.
This is an important new feature for startups as it helps build awareness and prepare for that all-important opening day. Potential new customers will be able to note the opening and closing hours and all services offered by your new business.
Building your unique online presence is important for local SEO, as it helps you achieve better search engine rankings. The new Google My Business feature is also useful for engaging with potential customers prior to opening dates.
New feature for local service area business changes
An added feature for service businesses that visit or deliver to local customers has also been announced. When you log into your Google My Business listing, you will see there are now separate fields so you can edit both your own business address and the area you serve.
This update means you can’t manually set your service area radius around your business any longer. Hereon, you need to physically specify the areas you service by region, city, zones, or Eircodes.
Any time you update business details, you will have options to change your address and the service area you cover.
If you don’t actually serve customers from your business address, you should leave this area blank and only input information about your area of service. If you also serve customers from your business address, you can enter details in both fields to maximise potential custom.
